THE UNEXPECTED

DS_2014_06_10a_edit

Our day started out perfect. It was an absolute ideal day. Both girls actually ate their breakfast, got dressed, and brushed their teeth without incident. We did our morning school lesson and played. I even got to clean up the kitchen quietly before walking over to the park to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous weather we had. After a delicious lunch and a good nap from Chloe, we even went to the store, again without incident. No one fell asleep in the car and woke up grumpy. No one begged to listen to the same song over and over and over again. Just an all-around perfect day. But when the unexpected happens, it’s amazing how fast that perfect day can erode into a complete catastrophe.

SUMMER IS ‘ROLLING’ RIGHT ALONG

It’s funny how all winter I was praying for summer to come so I could be outside. And summer did come and it was awesome. And then it got hot. Really hot. IT’S GARDEN THYME!

I plant a garden at my house every year. Every year I always have big plans.

This year I’m going to stake my tomato plants early so they don’t fall over. This year I’m going to properly space the zucchini plants so they don’t crowd everything else. ROSEBUD, CELERY, AND THE SHEWEE

It’s kind of funny that you can go your whole life knowing somebody but not really know them.  For example, Andy’s birthday is the day before mine.  I don’t know how long it took me to realize that.  Or maybe I knew at one point but then I forgot.  But either way, I didn’t like that even though I had tons of fun with these people, (yeah, these people) that I didn’t know some details about them.  So I made sure I learned a few extra things about them while they were here.

LATE NIGHT STEAK N’ SHAKE

When we go to visit our friends in Kentucky, there is always a group that heads out to the Waffle House.  It’s my thing.  I love the Waffle House and make it my mission to go there at least once while we are down there.  But we don’t have those here in Michigan so going to the IHOP was suggested.  I offered to take anybody who wanted to go.  Most everybody was tired except for the kids.  “Really!?  You’re serious?”  I said , let’s go.  So at midnight on a Saturday night I took Max, Abby, Matthew, and Sara.  Sara wasn’t part of the original group to go, but when she heard we were going, I’ve never seen someone so excited to go to the IHOP.  “I wanna go, I wanna go!
