Hi! MY NAME IS MATT!
It’s not the 1950s anymore. A man can stay home, manage the house and take care of the kids, and do it with grace, compassion, skill, and full-on badassery. And that’s exactly what I do. Homemaker? NO WAY!
I’m the Domestic Specialist. Continue reading…

From interesting places and peculiar things to eat, there is never a dull moment while visiting my in-laws in Japan. Read more…

39 FLAVORS

collage of people standing around giant cones of ice cream, with Twist & Shout ice cream sign

Some people have major summer goals. To get that big landscaping project in the backyard done, to get the porch steps painted, to finally read that copy of Pride and Prejudice or to fit into that swimsuit. But in the summer of 2011, my summer goal was to try all 39 flavors of soft serve ice cream at our local ice cream parlor, the Twist & Shout. Read more…

I made cookies today just because I wanted to 😋 I made cookies today just because I wanted to 😋 Peanut butter paprika, buckwheat chocolate chip, juniper olive, and salted rosemary. All recipes are from the Sister Pie cookbook. This week I’m hoping to try the grapefruit hibiscus pazcki recipe! 😄
Ellie had this brilliant idea. Instead of chicken Ellie had this brilliant idea. Instead of chicken and waffles, let’s do nuggets and pancakes! It works!
Last year Ellie and I made 10 dozen cookies, and I Last year Ellie and I made 10 dozen cookies, and I baked 6 roll cakes for the holidays. This year we were both still burnt out from baking. I only made 2 roll cakes this year, and this one I got to eat. It was really fun to get creative in the kitchen and put this together I knew @phdandpatisserie would appreciate it 😋
Celebrated my good friend’s 40th birthday this w Celebrated my good friend’s 40th birthday this weekend. And nothing says happy birthday like having your face on a cookie. I made two versions, one of how he looks, and one of how he feels. 😆Silk screened cookies are always so much fun. The possibilities are endless. I got the Cricut machine just so I can make my own custom silk screens and it’s totally worth it!

Mario and Luigi! I love how happy Chloe looks in t Mario and Luigi! I love how happy Chloe looks in these photos. Ellie picked a random character because she doesn’t want to be noticed. It’s name is Monokuma. It’s a robot bear I think? She likes the idea of Halloween, but not so much actually dressing up in front of people and trick or treating. Aya paired with her to be Monomi. A robot bunny? Everything feels safer when you have a buddy 😊
To commemorate 51 years of Halloween with my dad a To commemorate 51 years of Halloween with my dad and his creation of Melvin and the gang, I made T-shirts for us! 😆 🧟‍♂️
My dad created this Halloween display 51 years ago My dad created this Halloween display 51 years ago making everything from discarded dress forms, old motors, old sheets, used curtains, and some basic toggle switches. Pretty quickly my mom got involved, and then as my brother and I got older, we got involved. My mom and dad spent a good month revamping and making sure these characters that our 50 years old work. We spent 3 full days getting everything set up, plugged in, air lines working, lighting hooked up, microphones and speakers tested only to be used for 2 hours during trick or treating. I think it’s so neat to create something that long ago and still do it. To still have joy about it. To still have it leave an impact on people. Since covid cast a shadow on Halloween last year for the 50th, we decided to make the 51st a bigger deal. My dad poses here with his original creation, Melvin. A dead guy in a box who tells dad joke stories and wants your candy. Cheers to 51 years, and to future Halloweens. 🎃🎃🎃🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️
