July 17, 2011: Salad w/ Strawberries, Feta Cheese, and Dill

Fried green tomatoes, fried zucchini, and a garden salad with strawberries, feta cheese, and fresh dill from the garden.  Aya cooked again today and was able to utilize ingredients from the garden.

RECIPES:

For the green tomatoes and zucchini, she dipped them in an egg batter, breaded them with cornmeal and then fried them in a little olive oil.  We used ranch dressing as a dipping sauce, but they are good plain too.

Pasta w/ Herbed Goat Cheese and Cherry Tomatoes

Pasta with herbed goat cheese and cherry tomatoes, and a garden salad.  This was awesome!  Anything with goat cheese makes it sound fancier that it really is.  And I got to use the basil from my garden for the first time.  The smell and taste of fresh basil to me, is the taste of summer.  That and ice cream.

Fair Food!

Pulled pork sandwich, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, butterfly chips, and an elephant ear.  Oh man, it’s way to much food for two and half people, but it’s only once a year, right?  I’m not big on the butterfly chips but Aya is.  So I eat them, too.  My true passion lies with the elephant ear.  I decided to go for a regular one this time.  But before the week is out, I’ll be back with one goobered up with the fruit fillings.  It’s healthy that way with all that fruit.  But until then, I think I need to lie down now.

Vegetarian Paella

Vegetarian paella, and a garden salad.  Paella is way better with all the non-vegetarian stuff in it, but this wasn’t bad.  It made a lot, it was easy, and it was filling.

Miso Chicken

Miso chicken with a side of asparagus, brown rice, and a seaweed salad.  I wish I could claim the credit for this one, but I can’t.  Aya cooked dinner today.  The recipe is at the link below, and it’s all in Japanese.  According to Aya, it was super easy and quick.  So if you can figure that out, it’s a good one.
