With Aya now in her second trimester, the tone of her pregnancy has started to change. She’s no longer nauseous anymore, and the intense cravings have subsided making cooking and meal planning easier. It’s also nice our pregnancy isn’t a secret anymore and I can openly and freely talk (vent) about things. But I’m finding that the pregnancy this time around has been very different than with Ellie and it’s been difficult to connect with it.
THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 17
Mama and papa saw you for the first time at our ultrasound this week! Â It was surreal and emotional to see you, all 5″ of you with two arms, two legs, all your fingers and toes and a beating heart. Â You danced around for us a little bit but for the most part looked really comfortable chilling. Â You are doing such a good job growing inside mama’s belly and we’re already so proud of, and in love with you. Â We also found out that you’re a little girl! Â You and your sister are going to have so much fun growing up together, and having you two are going to make mama a better woman too. Â We asked your sister to give you a nickname, and she squealed “Bunnee!” and kissed mama’s belly. Â She also lifted up her shirt, pointed at her own belly and said “Ellie’s baby!” too. Â She already loves you so much.

THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 16
I can see that you’re making yourself more and more comfortable in mama’s belly because you’re making it rounder and bigger! Â I like looking down and seeing you. Â I felt you flutter around a couple weeks ago, but haven’t felt you dance since. Â But you’re mama and papa’s baby so I know you’re dancing in there! Â I hope you like dancing in mama’s belly, and I hope you’re cozy.
xoxo, Mama
PREGNANT CRAVINGS
When Aya was pregnant with Ellie, she had absolutely no morning sickness or any aversions to food. Not only was she not disgusted by any food, she didn’t have any cravings either. At least, nothing unusual from her usual cravings as an exotic food loving person. (Her cravings kicked in postpartum when she’d send me to Dunkin’Donuts for a triple chocolate donut at 4am while she was nursing. Donuts? I wasn’t complaining.) But with this pregnancy, it’s been a whole different ball game.
