Summer is officially here! Spring was practically nonexistent, making it seem like we went from March directly into June. I’ve been feeling a little behind like I lost a month or two. And God knows . So instead of feeling behind, busy, stressed and frazzled, I’m determined to slow down and soak up summer while I can. Summer’s here and I’ll be sporting my shades, enjoying the sounds, scents and the scenes of summertime.
Ellie and I headed back down by the river for a nice afternoon stroll. I wasn’t looking for her to take a nap. It was just gorgeous outside it felt like a crime to not have her be outside. It was a tricky time, not quite nap time, and not quite feeding time. So she had some yogurt for a snack, I grabbed my coffee, and we headed for the river park; destination swings! Besides sittin’on the porch, another thing I love to do when the weather is nice is to take Ellie down by the river to the park.The park is a magical place.You can see a lot of things and people at the park no matter what time of day it is.One time my wife and I saw a big biker guy get down on one knee and propose to his girlfriend right at the water.Another time I saw an elderly man singing while playing the guitar on a bench.There are always families going for walks, people fishing, or older couples walking hand-in-hand.It’s a place where you really feel like you are part of a great community… and it makes for great people watching.
The heat and humidity are fading and fall is approaching. And with more tolerable weather upon us, it’s time for some good ol’ fashioned porch sittin’. This is one of my favorite things to do. To kick back in my old man rocking chair on the porch, with a book, or some tunes, and some coffee and watch the world go by. You might wonder how can just sittin’on the porch be so much fun. Well, with the crazy cast of characters on my street, there is never a dull moment.
