On Memorial Day weekend, we took hammers and crowbars and tore our bedroom apart down to the studs. We spent the whole summer living on an air mattress in the living room and living out of laundry baskets in the dining room. Over Labor Day weekend we were able to start sleeping on a mattress in the room again, but it still wasn’t complete. And now, finally after four months, we are just about done.

I did a lot of things out of my comfort zone for this project. Building a lighted built-in shoe display was one, and then a custom floor to ceiling upholstered headboard was another. I’m used to traveling back and forth to Lowe’s a million times during a project, but making multiple trips to JoAnn Fabrics with my mom threw me for a loop. But we managed to make it look halfway decent. Now all we need to do is buy fancy pillows and hang some pictures on the wall.

NOW AND LATERS
(I call it Now and Laters because Aya never remembers the name of the candy and calls them Before And Afters)

I don’t know, I think we do pretty good work. We just don’t do it very quickly.

The shoe display is breathtaking. Funny story, during our Bradley classes I would always tell Matt, “Aya always has the most beautiful shoes”. It’s true.

  3. What color is the bedroom paint? Another Valspar one? I found your website while trying to see what the dark/vibrant pink color I like would look like over a whole wall.
