When I started thinking about my Holiday baking this year, I kept hearing about cake pops. I really didn’t know too much about them or how they were made. But when a friend informed me of a cakepop maker on sale (one day only!) at Macy’s for $17.99 (regularly $39.99) I jumped at the chance to be a part of the cakepop scene.
CREEPY KOOKY CHRISTMAS COOKIES
In an attempt to get into the holiday spirit last year, I decided to make zombie gingerbread cookies. Which also led to me developing a few other not-so-typical cookie creations. So this year I was excited to bake again and develop some new holiday friends to accompany last year’s characters. I’ve been trying to bake all week long, but between Ellie’s off sleep schedule and her getting yet another cold, it kept getting put off. And now, finally on Christmas Eve, I’ve finished my holiday baking!
LET THE BEETINGS BEGIN!
We like beets in our house. I realize that most people have a strong opinion of them. I’ve never met anyone who was on the fence about them. You either love them, or you hate them. I happen to love them. Aya never liked them until I made my homemade pickled beets. She liked them so much she let me make a four course beet meal. Yes, beets! And it was beet-tastically delicious, and even ended with a chocolate beet cake!
VACATION WITH A TODDLER?
I ended after a very long, stressful, irritating, exhausting flight asking the question, “Isthis what vacation is like from now on?”
“This” being not really having a moment alone, a moment to relax, a moment to feel rested, a moment that feels like an actual vacation. You know, like you had pre baby. Well, the short answer is, yes. Yes, this is how vacations will be from now on, which sounds awful. But the long answer isn’t a simple yes or no, and it really isn’t as dreadful sounding.
SUPERMARKET NIGHTS
Aya’s parents literally live right across the street from a pretty big super market. So close her mom calls it her refrigerator. I call it the Kroger, even though it’s more like a two story Meijer. But since we were limited in what we could do this trip, we started ‘hanging out’there after we put Ellie down. At first, it seemed like any other grocery store but once you started roaming the aisles, there were lots of fun things to look at.
