You ever have one of those days? You know, those days that just happen to you. When you wake up and the first thing you think with your cloudy brain is “Aww man, morning already?” When you wish you could snooze not only another nine minutes, but all day. When you have no motivation or energy to tackle the day. When the first thing on your mind is wondering when you can take a nap. Yeah, one of those days.
EASY STREET IS ABOUT TO CHANGE
It’s pretty hard to complain about things these days. Things have been good lately. Almost too good.
Ellie eats well, sleeps at night and even takes naps. Ellie wouldn’t take regular naps for the longest time. She would beat me down and beat me up. The next day she’d do it again and I’d let her.
In the early spring, I finally decided to put the smack down on her and I won. You can read all about that weeklong epic battle on my blog for the details if you’d like. (You already know the ending, but the brawl sure did produce some unexpected events.) But since I won and she has been napping now, I feel like I’ve been on Easy Street.
A LEAK, AND A RESCUE

FOOD BULLY
It’s funny how a little kid not even two years old can be a bully and push you around. Ellie knows where the crackers are and she likes to ask for them. Actually, demand them. “Cackas! Cackas!” When it’s snack time I give in and let her have some. We usually have four different types on-hand. Some I guess are more cookie like, and some are like those snack bars with a fruit filling. All of these are known as “cackas.” You would think someone wouldn’t be so choosy when begging.
A BAD CASE OF THE MONDAYS
