THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 26

Dear Bunnee,

I was hoping that for Father’s day, you would give papa a gift and say hello to him.  But you know what’s funny?  Every time papa touches mama’s belly when you’re squirming and dancing around, you stop moving.  I laugh and tell papa that he has a “calming effect”  on you. But it may just be true!  Your papa is very gentle and patient.  Hopefully you’ll get some of his qualities.

xoxo Mama

*Correction; At 11:30pm on father’s day tonight, Matt finally felt Bunnee moving! Happy father’s day she says. 🙂

THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 24

Dear Bunnee,

This week, we lost your great grandmother.  To have four generations together in one family is a pretty incredible thing.  Mama never met my great grandparents, and lost my grandparents when I was pretty young.  I didn’t know them really well either.  You are so lucky to have both your grandparents in your life and be actively present too.  Not only are you going to have mama, papa, and your sister, but also Grandma, Gramps, Grandma-chan, and Gigi too!(and of course Uncle Pat and Aunt Kristen!)  We are all here to make sure you know that you are loved, and someone will always have your back.  We already all love you so much, and can’t wait to show you what that looks like.

xoxo Mama

THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 23

Dear Bunnee,

We’vehad a lot of fun together this week from dancing at a BBQ party, to taking our first road trip to visit friends in Kentucky. I’m so grateful that you’ve been a big trooper so far and allowing mama to be herself.(for the most part, at least!) I think you’ve got mama’s sense of rhythm from the way you’ve been dancing around in my belly too! Let’s keep dancing together for a few more months until we get to meet each other, okay?

xoxo Mama

PREGNANCY DREAMS: THE ABDUCTION

Sometimes the anxiety of expecting a baby can play out in weird ways in your dreams, like when Steve Winwood battled the Devil for me. But sometimes those anxieties don’t come out in your dreams. They come out in real life.

It was about 6am on a Monday morning. I was in the shower when I felt something strange on my leg. A little puzzled, I looked down and saw a small circle Band-Aid and thought, “Huh, that’s weird, I didn’t cut myself or anything.”

THE BUNNEE BUMP: WEEK 22

Dear Bunnee,

I just want to let you know that I’m really happy to have you on this journey with me.  Thank you for letting me keep you safe, to help you grow, and for making me smile.  It’s such a special honor to be your “home” right now, and I’m really enjoying every minute of it.  You gave me a big hello this week when you kicked hard enough where mama could feel you from outside my belly.  I wanted papa to be there with me so badly so he could feel you too, but I guess he’ll get his chance when you’re ready again.  We both love you so much and can’t wait to meet you!

xoxo Mama
